Antwerp, Lagos, Rome, Brussels and Damascus.
1988: Ambassador in Riyadh.
1992: Deputy Under-Secretary in the Ministry.
1995: Ambassador of Turkey in Cairo.
1998: Permanent Representative of Turkey to the United Nations Office and other international organizationsbased in Vienna.
2000-2001: Lecturer on “Turkey’sForeign Policy” in the BilkentUniversity and “Hydro-politics” and “Turkey’sForeign Policy” in the HacettepeUniversity in Ankara.
2001: Foundingmember of the Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) and its Vice Chairman in charge of International Relations.
2002: Member of Parliament.
2002-2003: Minister of ForeignAffairs.
Participated as Minister of ForeignAffairs in the Convention to draft the
Treatyestablishing a Constitution for Europe, in 2003.
Re-elected as Member of Parliamentin 2007.
Chairman of the EU Committee in the TurkishParliament and co-Chairman of the
Turkey-EU Joint Parliamentary Commission from 2003 to 2011.
Chairman of the French Caucus in the TurkishParliamentfrom 2007 to 2011.
