Ruth IvieEbhota is a business woman, Coach, writer and entrepreneur born on November 22nd 1977 in Edo state, Nigeria. Ruth is one of the pioneer for women in Beauty products business in Nigeria. in the last decade Ruth has built several businesses in the cosmetic industry: Ruvie Beauty Clinic (a production company for beauty products) and Serenity Spa & Cosmetology Academy (a cosmetology institute for Vocational Education).
She has worked as a salesperson and cosmetic consultant for several multi-nationals, such as Forever Living Product and Mary Kay.
After a degree in law, Ruth decided to go into the workplace, she did this for a couple of years and after several disappointing experiences in the traditional workplace, She decided to create her own business in 2008. But at the time she had no startup capital and had no collateral to access a loan from the bank. Being a staunch believer in possibilities and armed with several diplomas and advanced certificates in cosmetology, cosmetic Formulation, marketing, and entrepreneurial development, she went into developing a business in cosmetology and beauty care products. She started her business with less than a hundred dollars and two clients, making natural organic hand made cosmetics. In less than three years she gained recognition from the federal government of her country and got a factory space in the technology incubation center to produce her organic beauty products. In a short time again she got a grant from the federal government to set up her Spa & cosmetology Institute.
Serenity Spa & Cosmetology Academy turned a profit in its first year and has trained over 2,000 students across Africa since its inception.
Ruvie Beauty Clinic grew from a natural hand made business from 2010 to a more commercialized production of beauty products in 2014. Ruvie Beauty Clinic developed several marketing plans to distribute its cosmetics. In the beginning they were sold through at-home parties and beauty seminars. Using some of the skills acquired as a Sonya consultant Ruth strove to make her business different by employing incentive programs and bonuses for her distributors and sales representatives.
Recently the business expanded its distribution channels to online portals- setting up and e-commerce and social medial stores for the sales of her beauty products.
Her top two mentors in business are Mary Kay Ash and Quincy Ayo Dele.
Ruth was born with clubfeet, she went through several corrective orthopedic surgeries. As a result of her physical challenge she became even more determined to make a difference in her world. The process of overcoming her challenge became her strongest motivation to succeed at life and in business.
Outside of being the CEO of two different companies, Ruth established the Ruvie Foundation in 2015. The foundation supports women development in the rural communities. Currently the foundation is working on industrializing the rural communities.
In 2013 she was nominated among the top 5 best in the world for a business plan competition organized by London school of business and finance in association with the mamba mentors.
Ruth also dedicates her life and time to working with other charitable organizations for widows and orphans.
Currently she resides in Abuja, Nigeria. In her spare time she enjoys painting, gardening and music.
