Citizen of Burkina Faso, Dr Mathias SOME is the president of African Federation of Public Health association (AFPHA) created in 2011 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire).
After primary and secondary schools in Burkina Faso, Dr Mathias SOME has performed university in Leningrad (former USSR, today St Petersburg in Russia) from 1973 to 1980, and returned to his country in 1980 as Doctor in medical science.
He worked as clinical physician from 1980 to 1983 in regional and national hospitals, before being called at the central level of the Ministry of health as national director:
- Director of Public Health (1983-1985)
- Director of health education and sanitation (1985-1987),
- Director general of occupational health (1996-1998),
- Deputy minister of health (1998-2001).
During his professional career, his performed many training courses in public health areas (management and communication, health program management, etc.) in Belgium, France, Canada en Senegal.
Dr Mathias SOME has assumed the responsibility of ambassador of his country (Burkina Faso) in Paris, covering France, Spain Portugal, Tunisia, Morocco, Holy Seat, Principauty of Monaco.
Dr. Mathias SOME coordinated the preparation and popularization of the political program of the candidate Roch Marc Christian KABORE who was elected president of Burkina Faso in November 2015. He became his Special Adviser in charge of the follow-up of the presidential program.
