Mr Moussa MARA is a chartered accountant by profession.He is associated with the largest firm in the country, which is also present in twenty countries. He graduated from high school in Mali and did his postgraduate studies in France. He started his professional career in 1997 with the accounting firm “CABINET DIARRASEC”.Mr MARA, as the associated Director of the firm, works with the State, large companies, and local authorities. He advises structures, conducts monitoring and verification missions and gives lectures to many Malian and foreign executives. He is also a teaching supervisor in international training structures.He is a member of the boardof the African accountants’ international organization. He has been the general secretary of the Association of Chartered Accountantsfor five years.
Mr MARA is very active in civil society associations, he isone of the leader and contributor to several charities.
In 2011, he won the election that took place with a great margin, which bear eloquent witness to the confidencethe people of the Municipality IV of Bamako (one of the biggest municipality) have shown in him. Mr MARA, head of the Municipality IV, increased the resources of the city by 33%in less than a year. He was able to make sanitary and roads’ investment, set up the school uniform.A newspaper was launched in order to inform the population. The latter, associated with the management of the community of the city council launched a guide to users of the Municipalityin order to prevent corruption of public officials and racketeering of the poor. Mr MARA, before taking office, has always declared his assets, whereas he had no obligation to do so.
His competence, expertise, experiences and passion for reading allowed him to write several books, including: “For a better Mali” in 2006, “The State in Mali, Presentation and Diagnosis”in 2010, and the last one “African youth” in 2017. In September 2013, Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar KEITA (IBK) appointed him in his office as Minister of Urban affairs and Town Policies. Due to his proven records of hard work and integrity, he became the youngest prime minister in the history of the country in 2014.He resigned in January 2015.
Furthermore, in 2013 he was candidate for the Malian presidential election and now he is aiming for the next elections. Mr MARA is the president of the political party YELEMA – CHANGEMENT, which means YELEMA – THE CHANGE.
