Since July 1st, 2014, Jean-Marie Préaud is an independent consultant, Advisor in Vaccine technologies, Quality Management Systems, Regulatory pathways and International Cooperation. He is also a Board Member of the International Alliance for Biological Standardization for Europe (IABS-EU).
Jean-Marie Préaud was a senior technical officer at PATH working on several projects: the Meningitis Vaccine Project (MVP), the Japanese Encephalitis (JE) Project, the Advancing Rotavirus Vaccine Development Program (ARVAC) and the Pneumococcal Vaccine Program (PVP).
Jean-Marie Préaud was responsible for the pharmaceutical operations for MVP: he coordinated the vaccine development, processes, analytical methods, logistics related to transfer of samples, documentation between partners, and technology transfers between partners. He monitored and managed technical operations including clinical batch preparation, scale-up, industrial production, and vaccine stabilization; the Men A conjugate vaccine, MenAfriVac has been successfully approved by WHO in June 2010.
For the JE project, he was responsible for the pharmaceutical operations in relationship with Chengdu Institute of Biological Products: building of new JE facilities, implementation of Quality Management System, technical documentation. The JE vaccine has been approved by WHO in October 2013, the first vaccine WHO prequalified in China.
For the Advancing Rotavirus Vaccine Development Program, he conducted due diligence of potential partners, manages pharmaceutical plans and leads the “Enabling Platform”, a toolbox of technologies, training, methodologies, and material designed to meet common needs among developing countries manufacturers with the support of organizations, consultants, and PATH experts with specific, high-level expertise.
Prior to joining PATH, M. Préaud was General Manager at “Shire Biologics, Vaccine Center in Quebec, Canada and previously occupied different positions at Virbac and Rhône-Mérieux in France. His degrees include Ingénieur (Génie biologique) ENSBANA (École Nationale Supérieure de Biologie Appliquée à la Nutrition et à l’Alimentation), Université de Dijon, France; Certificat Biochimie Structurale et Métabolique, Faculté des Sciences, Nantes, France; DUEG Chimie-Biologie, Faculté des Sciences, Nantes, France; and Baccalauréat en Sciences de la Nature, Collège Richelieu, La Roche-sur-Yon, France.
