The drastic changes taking place in the Arab world showed a new face of internet and the media. During the pre-revolution period, the role of the media in Arab countries and more generally in the South consisted mainly in broadcasting the news and entertaining people while internet was used for distraction.
On the eve of the Arab spring, television channels Al Jazeera and Al Arabia as well as the social networks Facebook and Tweeter played a crucial and decisive role. From a post on the internet to a broadcasted picture on T.V, internet and the media served the interests of a youth in its quest for change.
The youth, the media and internet demonstrated their ability to exercise pressure on political decisions-makers. These revolutions can be considered as the first step towards the creation of a young generation, which found its own way to communicate its ideas and aspirations to participate in the democratization of their country.
